| History and Philosophy |
| The society of Sisters of the Holy Cross was invited to India in the year 1906 in order to work in the Government hospitals of Kerala. In the year 1970 they came to Karnataka and pitched their tent in a remote village called Kamagere, and started a dispensary to provide health care to the under privileged and marginalized sections of the Society. Gradually this initial dispensary developed into a 100 bedded hospital, providing health care to the poor and marginalized people in and around Chamarajanagar district. |
| The rediscovery of the Founding Charism and the purpose of the congregation gave a trust to the ministry of education and formation of the young girls. Keeping this in mind the Holy Cross School of Nursing, the first nursing school in the district of Chamarajanagar was started in 1997.Admission is open to all the candidates but preference is given to the candidates from Karnataka state. Every year 35-40 students are being trained and most of them are doing well in different parts of the world in the field of Nursing. Holy Cross School of Nursing aims at preparing intellectually enlightened, morally upright, spiritually inspired, emotionally balanced and socially committed Nurses in the field of health care. |

| Holy Cross School of Nursing seeks to prepare the nurses to practice Holistic Nursing care, in an increasingly complex and rapidly changing health care environment.We believe that during the nursing course the students become competent with a variety of skills, learn to reason with judgment, develop respect for the inherent worth of every human being, reflect upon personal values and attitudes and demonstrate commitment to lifelong learning and to the profession. |
